Airgas to Feature Efficient and Sustainable Solutions for Food Industry at IPPE 2022

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, will showcase equipment and applications expertise to help produce a sustainable future for the food industry at the 2022 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE). Airgas food industry specialists will present at IPPE in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center from January 25–27, 2022 in Booth #C11251.

Food manufacturers are constantly looking to enhance competitiveness within the industry and are adopting more sustainable and efficient ways to meet rising consumer demand. Experts will be on hand to consult with food manufacturers navigating the challenges of adapting traditional production methods to meet emerging needs.

A complete value chain of solutions for the poultry industry is available through Airgas and can help customers produce quality products from farm to fork while maintaining food sanitation standards and lowering the carbon footprint within the food industry.

Airgas is committed to helping customers maintain hygiene and sanitation standards with its equipment offer, safety and process expertise:

  • FP1 Freezing Tunnel: The Cryo Tunnel - FP1 is a fully welded, stainless steel, in-line cryogenic tunnel with modular sections that can be easily integrated into any food processing line. It offers the versatility to efficiently freeze, crust freeze, or chill any type of food product using liquid nitrogen or carbon dioxide while ensuring exceptional product quality. The hygienically-designed lifting system ensures that the lid can open completely for better accessibility during cleaning, sanitation and maintenance functions.

  • Bottom Injection System: The Airgas bottom injection system is a patented, high flow, self-sealing and easily cleanable stainless steel cryogenic injector designed by Airgas for bottom injection temperature control applications using the latest hygiene guidelines. The design of this system will limit the potential for larger food safety issues, as its ease of cleanliness and inspection helps prevent any product contamination, which can lead to a food recall. It is ideal for those processors that need increased productivity and ease of operation with minimal capital investment and installation cost.

With a team of more than 60 QSSP- and OSHA 30-certified safety specialists, Airgas takes safety beyond products. These specialists will show PPE appropriate for food plant workers and can identify workplace hazards and help implement corrective actions to protect workers from head to toe while working.

Airgas is ready to help customers achieve their sustainability goals by lowering their carbon footprint and supporting the growing alternative proteins industry:

  • The Airgas freezing and chilling systems lock in moisture and reduce dehydration, increasing yield and thereby reducing each product’s overall carbon footprint. Airgas can also offer nitrogen and oxygen produced with low carbon emissions in its full range of services used in the food industry.

  • Airgas recognizes that the need for additional food sources continues to grow and that this gap can be filled with the use of alternative proteins. Airgas is working with customers who are producing and using alternative proteins, helping them to create a process solution that leverages proven technologies to meet these current and emerging needs.

A TECHTalks presentation at IPPE will feature Bill Adams, PhD, Director of Airgas Food and Pharmaceutical Solutions, presenting the topic of Sanitation and Hygiene Considerations of Food Chilling and Freezing Equipment, from 1:00 to 1:20 p.m. EST on January 26, 2022 at C Hall, Booth C10611.

David Joyner, Vice President of Food and Beverage Markets, commented: “Airgas is in a unique position to support an industry that is innovating to meet rising demand and rapidly advancing—on worker safety, automation, sustainability, supply chain resilience—and accelerate advances such as alternative proteins.”
